WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Mission Bay has long been renowned for wild sports activities; during the world war mission bay was even used as a pilot training ground where 'would be' fighter pilots learned to fly in sea planes.

We have been a colourful accessory of Mission Bay for around 30 years now. At that time the first windsurf shop opened in the Bay and operated a training school on the white sand beach. In 1996 the Windsurf shop got squeezed out of Mission Bay but the Windsurf school remains as a stand alone business. The Windsurf shop is now located in Takapuna on Barry's Point Road and is still called 'Windscene'. (See links to view web site).



This year Anton Ashcroft took the business over. He is a registered Windsurfing New Zealand Instructor, Boatmaster and First Aider, who has been teaching windsurfing in America, the UK and Europe for over twenty years.
All staff who teach for Mission Bay Watersports are enthusiasts of their sports, and have formal, internationally recognised teaching qualifications.
People up and down the country know they can rent equipment and launch from Mission Bay.
At Mission Bay Watersports you can rent single and double Kayaks, single and double windsurfers to suit all skill levels, and waterbikes that are probably faster than anything you might have tried before. On certain days we also offer doughnut rides behind a jetski- Come and try them out!!
